welcome to my capsule! i'm starling, this is my second time making one of these, after i hadn't bothered with it for a while after changin my VPS provider and domain name. i live in canada, i'm transgender, and i'm a union electrician. i like computer stuff as a hobby and am wanting to do more mucking about with home network stuff and with smolnet stuff, as well. i'm hoping to write more, and to use gemini more to put stuff online. probably there will be no shortage of talking about gemini on here as i try and develop tools for myself to serve and browse, but i'll try and talk about other cool stuff as i see fit so as to not contribute to the problem small communication mediums have of being plagues with nothing except conversation of the medium.

some of my other interests are toki pona and music (i mostly play guitar pretty well, but also play some ukulele and bass as far as guitar translates onto those. i can passably mess around on keys, and have started learning mountain dulcimer). i also like making drawing, my mediums of choice are digital and crayons. my subject of choice is furry art. in terms of digital art, i've messed around a bit with using inkscape for some vector stuff, normally i use krita for raster art.

i'm writing this on my main laptop running debian, which is the second linux distro i've ever tried since ubunutu, and i'm quite fond of it. my other laptop runs freebsd, which i've also been enjoying. i'm in the middle of moving right now, and from former roommates i've inherited one known good desktop and two laptops which may or may not be functional. i'm also going to try and pry my girlfriend's old macbook off her. i wanna use lots of old computers to learn about hardware, software, operating systems and networking.
